Bridal Wedding Accessories to Bedazzle Your Wedding Dress

Weddings are a big deal. You’ll be in a big hurry when preparing for your wedding, but don’t let all that rushing around distract you from looking your best. Bridal accessories are extremely important if you want a complete look on your big day. No gown is complete without the right accessories, and you want to look your very best. Jewelry, purses, shoes, veils, and many other accessories help you make a statement. Let’s take a look at some of the most common types or bridal accessories, and how to choose the best ones.

Veils - One of the most iconic things other than the wedding gown, very few brides go without some sort of veil. If you’re planning to use one, be sure it goes with your gown, however. A really formal veil with a casual gown could look a little strange. Fortunately, there are lots of lengths and styles to choose from, from full cathedral veils to shoulder length flyaways.

Headpieces - Once you’ve chosen your veil, you’ll probably need a headpiece to go with it. Juliet caps, headbands, and simple combs are all extremely popular. Most are in the standard white, decorated with lace, artificial flowers, beads, crystals or faux pearls. Some choose to wear just a headpiece and skip the veil

Tiaras - For those of us who’ve always wanted to feel like a princess, the tiara can be the finishing touch to a fairytale wedding gown. These are elegant and beautiful, and come in many different types. Most are crown shaped, but some are also available in different styles, Gold and silver tones are both very popular.

Jewelry - Wedding jewelry to match the dress is also a common choice. You’ll be wearing your wedding band and engagement ring, of course. However, earrings, necklaces and bracelets can bring out the best in your wedding day ensemble. Pearls, silver and gold are all common choices, and many brides choose to wear family pieces with their gowns for a touch of tradition.

Stockings and shoes - We all need the right shoes for our gown - remember to buy yours before you have alterations done. Look for comfortable stockings and shoes, since you’re going to be on your feet, and be sure that you practice walking in them. Stockings should be comfortable, too. No one wants to wear beautiful accessories that make the day unbearable, after all.

Garters - The wedding garter is a traditional accessory that no ordinary wedding would be without. There are lots of colors, though blue is the most popular, to complete the old rhyme. White garters with a blue bow or other trimmings are also common. Make sure the garter you choose is one you’ll be happy tossing.

Gloves - Not worn with every dress, elbow or opera length gloves go well with sleeveless and strapless styles and can be very elegant. Choose a glove that fits well, and which will be tight enough to stay up, but not so much it cuts off circulation or leaves ugly marks.

Handbags - While you won’t carry one while going down the aisle, a small clutch purse or other bag is a good idea. After all, you need somewhere to carry makeup for touchups and those all important tissues. Choose a handbag that coordinates with your dress, but doesn’t stand out too much.
